Grammy-winning and BRIT and Mercury-Prize-nominated artist La Roux returns with her first new material in five years - 'Supervision' out February 7th 2020 on her own label Supercolour Records. From cover to contents, this is unequivocally the album Elly Jackson always wanted to make - a claim that with some artists might ring alarm bells, but in this instance simply means that ‘Supervision’ sounds precisely, unmistakably, gloriously like La Roux.
La Roux shot to worldwide fame with her debut self-titled album in 2009 selling over 6 million singles worldwide and - in addition to collaborations with the likes of Skream, Kanye West, and Major Lazer – helped reshape pop as we now know it. Elly’s second album, 'Trouble In Paradise', was a critically-adored reinvention, topping the Dance/Electronic charts in the US and landing La Roux her second top 10 album in the UK.

Five-time Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Green Day unleash their brand new single “Father Of All…,” which is the lead track on their forthcoming thirteenth studio album of the same name, out February 7, 2020 on Reprise / Warner Records. Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, CA, Green Day is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, with more than 70 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion cumulative audio/visual streams. Their 1994 breakout album Dookie, which sold over 10 million and achieved diamond status, is widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock, catapulting a career-long run of #1 hit singles. Entertainment Weekly calls Green Day, “The most influential band of their generation,” while Rolling Stone attests, “Green Day have inspired more young bands to start than any act this side of KISS, and that doesn't seem to be changing.” In 2004, Green Day released the rock opera American Idiot which captured the nation’s attention, selling more than 7 million copies in the U.S. alone and taking home the coveted Grammy Award for Rock Album of the Year. Mojo declared “It's exhilarating stuff, the kind of record that sets new parameters as to what is possible from a punk rock'n'roll band in the 21st century.” In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway to critical and commercial acclaim.

Three years since their last album proper, singer Stuart Staples decided Tindersticks’ return called for something special and No Treasure but Hope, is very much that! Rich in intuitive warmth, lush melodies and an inquisitive spirit, it’s an album that casts a fresh light on Tindersticks’ core qualities, bathed in the glow of a band intent on rediscovering what they can do. Expanding the horizon without losing the focus, No Treasure but Hope manages to collect some of the band’s most immediate work in one outsstanding album.
This will be the bands twelfth record, the earliest Tindersticks release being in 1991. Over the course of the band’s rich history, Staples has found a voice in film composition as well. This includes a soundtrack to Claire Denis’ science-fiction film High Life (2019), which features vocals from actor Robert Pattinson.
The follow up to FKA twigs’ critically acclaimed Brit Award and Mercury Prize nominated debut LP1 (2014, Young Turks). Widely regarded as one of the best albums of 2014 and selling over 340,000 records globally. Twigs will tour the US in November with a theatrical performance that debuted in May to universal acclaim as well as several major festivals (Afropunk Brooklyn and Atlanta, Flog Gnaw) Press campaign includes September i-D cover, multi-page feature in Vogue October issue, television appearances and more. Mono formed in Tokyo, Japan in the closing winter weeks of December, 1999. They played their first live shows at the top of the new millennium, and released their first album, Under The Pipal Tree, in 2001. Recorded live in one day on a razor-thin budget, Pipal Tree was an earnest introduction to the curious magic of a band that would eventually become synonymous with monstrously dynamic, contemporary classical rock music. To commemorate those austere beginnings - and celebrate their remarkable longevity - Mono revisit three of their earliest songs, and retrofit them with speaker-destroying upgrades. Anchored by the towering 16-minute noise opus, "Com(?)", Before The Past Live From Electrical Audio shows the evolution of Mono's execution, stripping away the strings and layers of guitar overdubs to show just how massive this band can be at their most instrumentally austere. Newly recorded in one day in 2019 with longtime collaborator, Steve Albini - and mixed by Albini with Temporary Residence founder, Jeremy deVine - Before The Past is as much a declaration of the present as it is a document of the past. These songs, which are now 20 years old, feel more powerful and profound than ever - a testament to Mono's enduring dedication to their craft, and their dogged exploration of maximum minimalism.

High Line represents a new path into the high country for the NYC ambient country quintet known as SUSS. The follow-up release to their acclaimed album Ghost Box (Expanded) on Northern Spy Records, High Line explores the horizon line where the cosmic meets the landscape of the American West. Drawing on influences such as Ry Cooder and Bruce Langhorne while forging new paths alongside fellow travelers like Daniel Lanois and Boards of Canada, SUSS uses a combination of acoustic guitars, pedal steel, harmonica, mandolin and synthesized sound manipulation to take the listener on a blissful and mythic trip into the unknown.
Frail Body is a hardcore/punk band from Rockford, IL that embodies the spirit and soul of what many define as "screamo". A Brief Memoriam combines a new four-song recording session with their sought after At Peace session into one proper album. Both sessions were recorded by engineer Zack Farrar at Choir Room Audio. A-side opener "Pastel" erupts with unhinged emotion driven by discordant guitars and hyper-speed drumming. This leads to the powerful "Your Death Makes Me Wish Heaven Was Real" a moving song of mourning and remembrance. "Aperture" then explores concepts of identity and growth amid a tangle of beautiful musical debris. Lastly, the poignant "Tradition in Verses" unfurls with a ground shaking emotion that is hard to capture in words. The B-side of A Brief Memoriam is comprised of their incredible At Peace session; a recording that shows Frail Body even in their earliest state was a heartfelt, creative force.

CUP is the duo of Nels Cline (the guitarist/composer best known for his work with Wilco) and Yuka C Honda (the composer/keyboardist/programmer best known for her work with Cibo Matto). Combining aspects of electronica, folk, improvisation, and some heated rocking, this debut recording'perhaps predictably'defies easy categorization. But fear not! Contained within this package is a sometimes sweet, sometimes jarring, but always compelling excursion into what a shared sensibility sounds like, and after taking the journey that is 'Spinning Creature' it all feels just right as CUP's music veers from the accessible to the abstract and back. This balance is what CUP music is all about. Nels and Yuka (who are married, by the way) even sing a little here and there as they enter their singular sound world. And now you can enter it, too!

Half Moon Run return with their third album, A Blemish In The Great Light, via Glassnote. Produced by Joe Chiccarelli (The Strokes, Beck, Killers) and featuring the singles Then Again and Flesh & Blood. The word everyone comes back to when describing Montreal indie rockers Half Moon Run is "complex" (The Guardian, Exclaim, et al.) Whether they're billed as dreamy alt-pop, bucolic alt-folk, or psychedelic indie rock, the four multi-instrumentalists-Devon Portielje (vocals, guitar, piano, percussion), Conner Molander (vocals, guitar, keyboard, piano, pedal steel, bass, harmonica), Dylan Phillips (vocals, drums, piano, keyboard), and Isaac Symonds (vocals, drums, mandolin, synth, bass)-have built their name on cerebral, acrobatic arrangements and harmonies that lilt prettily till they turn feral. Their first album, Dark Eyes, placed two A-list singles on BBC Radio 1 and went platinum in Canada, earning them a nod as a Rolling Stone "band to watch." They followed up with Canadian Gold Record Sun Leads Me On (Glassnote), which had them touring furiously through Europe and North America and got them a Juno nod for Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2016.
Cigarettes After Sex return with their anticipated sophomore album - Cry via Partisan Records. Recorded during night time sessions in a mansion on the Spanish island of Mallorca, the album is a lush, cinematic meditation on the many complex facets of love - meeting, wanting, needing, losing...sometimes all at once. The album was self-produced and engineered by Greg Gonzalez, and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs).

For principal songwriter and frontman Neige, ALCEST has always been a gateway to the otherworldly, a means of exploring his spirituality. An elemental two-piece, completed by long-serving drummer and creative confidante Winterhalter, their forthcoming sixth album “Spiritual Instinct“ finds Neige at his most personal. “This time I had something urgent to put on the table,” he explains. “It is a very cathartic record - something needed to get out of me. It’s darker than usual, and heavier.” Written in bursts both during and after a prolonged period of touring in support of 2016’s hugely successful “Kodama“, the sense of urgency Neige speaks of manifests in a record full of spontaneity, of immediate impact – be that in the breath-taking pace of the tempo changes in 'Les Jardin De Minuit'’ or the sun-kissed harmonies over an impermeable back beat in 'Sapphire', one thing “Spiritual Instinct“ has is riffs, an acknowledgement and celebration of the black metal foundations that anchor their uplifting post-metal. “Some real metal riffs!” agrees Neige. “I come from the metal scene originally and it never really left me; I used black metal as a teen as a way to escape from reality and that’s what I love the most about it. It’s the best type of music to express overwhelmingly darker feelings. I usually don’t speak about my darkness in ALCEST’s music but this time it felt like something I had to do.”
Ukrainian progressive groove metal wrecking machine JINJER have returned with their long awaited new album Macro and once again prove why the unique blend of singer Tatiana Shmaylyuk‘s beautifully aggressive harmonies and vocal hooks, and the bands sheer technical brilliance and precision have set them apart from the pack. From Macro’s opening track ‘On The Top’, which showcases all of their trademark sounds at once, to the superior musicianship and delivery of tracks like ‘Pausing Death’ and ‘Home Back’, to the viciously heavy reggae induced vibe on ‘Judgement (& Punishment)’, JINJER are making it known that they are here to take over in a huge way.

Part 2, like Part 1, was produced by Foals themselves: Yannis Philippakis (vocals/guitar), Jimmy Smith (guitar), Jack Bevan (drums) and Edwin Congreave (keys), with Philippakis and Congreave contributing bass too. The album simmers with the pure visceral intensity which has long been emblematic of the band— “The Runner” and “Black Bull” are streamlined attacks, and this approach also informs“10,000 Feet”— while retaining the opening chapter’s eclectic nature. “Wash Off” marries manic world music-tinged grooves with a punk-like intensity and the cinematic instrumentals “Red Desert” and “Ikaria” underline that Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost is a journey rather than a mere collection of songs.

The best musical mavericks never sit still for long. They mutate and morph into new shapes, refusing to be boxed in. Floating Points has so many guises that it’s not easy to pin him down.
Floating Points’ first album in four years, Crush, twists whatever you think you know about him on its head. It’s the producer at his most “unhinged,” he says, a tempestuous blast of electronic experimentalism whose title alludes to the pressure-cooker of the current environment we find ourselves in. It’s the sound of the many sides of Floating Points finally fusing together: the carefree selector, the considered composer and the passionate label curator. But it’s also a sound that, while it’s born out of despair and frustration with the overwhelmingly dark forces around us, manages to provide some hope for compassion. Crush on that.

Music has been the genesis of Common's creative life. Let Love is the culmination of a journey. Common spent 2018 and 2019 immersed in self-care and, ultimately, catharsis. In the process, he underwent a transformation as he examined God, faith, fatherhood, community, and love. He unites with prominent forces from different eras of the culture to deliver a timeless dedication to hip-hop. As such, the record details his past and present and shines a light on a bold and bright future. Of hip-hop, Common admits on lead single HER Love, "You gave me a voice in the world, it's been hard to choose another girl."
"a State of the Rap Union as he addresses the rise and expansion of hip-hop throughout the past 25 years" - VIBE
"his most impactful body of work yet, - OkayPlayer.
"Common's homage to hip-hop" - Rolling Stone
On their fourth LP (after Allah-Las, Worship The Sun and Calico Review), drummer Matt Correia, bassist Spencer Dunham, and guitarists Miles Michaud and Pedrum Siadatian A.K.A Allah Las turn their collective gaze outward and toward the horizon. Simply titled LAHS (a reference to a common misspelling of the band’s name), their forthcoming release on Mexican Summer finds the band turning in their most cohesive and ambitious work yet. “We’ve been traveling a lot the past couple years and I think that played a role in influencing the broader variety of songs on this record” Correia explains. And this is precisely what sets LAHS apart from its predecessors -- a record inspired less by time, but by place. “LAHS to me feels like a soundtrack to the past 5 years or so. A sort of audio postcard to anyone who wants to listen.”
“It's like a coming-of-age crisis,” says Daniel Shultz about Out of the Blue, the messy and melodic debut album from his band, Dan Luke and The Raid. “It’s about being in that space in your 20s where you’re trying to get your shit together and figure things out in life. You’re dealing with your problems”—the singer, songwriter and guitarist pauses—“even as you’re going out and partying and getting into trouble all the time.”
Shultz and his Dan Luke & The Raid band mates know a thing or two about the last part of that equation, as evidenced by the songs and subject matter on Out of the Blue. Throughout the album’s 10 tracks, people are passed out on curbs under neon signs (“Black Cat Heavy Metal”), breaking hearts over rolled-up dollar bills (“Exoskeleton”), leaving baggies lying in passenger seats (“Money Mouth”) and faking smiles and feeling ashamed (“Golden Age”). Legs are bleeding, faces are numb and Shultz declares his band to be the “diamond kings of smut.” All the while, the music throbs and pulses and twitches and buzzes with the energy and enthusiasm and inexperience of youth, bursting with harsh, distorted guitar chords, blown-out synths squiggles and hopped-up rhythms—as well as, on occasion, moments of stunning and sincere melodic beauty.
With the weight and experience of events that have been at times joyful and sad, poignant and puerile, triumphant and tragic, Dan Luke and The Raid continue to carve out their future, one musical moment at a time. “What we want to do is create music, and create music in a way where people feel something,” Shultz says. “And when we see that happening it’s an amazing thing.”
We ve come Full Circle and Then Some, goes the chorus to the title track of Trigger Hippy s sophomore album, their debut for Nashville indie label Thirty Tigers on the Turkey Grass Records imprint, and it s the perfect description of the long road these experienced musicians have traveled to arrive with an eclectic set that burnishes their collective roots from country, delta blues, R&B and gospel to southern rock and funk, from Memphis soul to New Orleans honky-tonk. This new collection spotlights Trigger Hippy s patented call-and-response duets and three-part vocal harmonies, with a stylistic range that encompasses traditional country plaints ( Strung Out on the Pain ), classic rockers (the title track), honking blues ( Dandelion ), a Basement Tapes-ish swamp-pop nod to the devastation of Katrina ( Goddamn Hurricane ), Dr. John-meets Allen Toussaint bayou grooves ( Long Lost Friend ) and even a psychedelic trance/dirge raga ( Born to be Blue ).
